Recovery Seed Protection

Your recovery seed is the master key to your crypto. Protect it like your life depends on it.

What is a Recovery Seed?

A recovery seed (also called a seed phrase) is a list of 12, 18, or 24 words that stores all the information needed to recover your cryptocurrency wallet.

Why It Matters

  • Anyone with your seed can access ALL your crypto
  • Lost device? Your seed recovers everything
  • No bank or support can reset it for you
  • It's the ONLY way to restore your wallet

DO's

  • Write it down on paper or engrave it on metal
  • Store it in a secure location (safe, vault)
  • Keep multiple copies in different secure locations
  • Use Trezor's recovery seed cards
  • Verify your backup during setup
  • Keep it offline and never digitize it
  • Tell a trusted person where it is (in case of emergency)

DON'Ts

  • NEVER take a photo or screenshot
  • NEVER store it on your computer or phone
  • NEVER save it in cloud storage (Google Drive, iCloud, etc.)
  • NEVER email it to yourself
  • NEVER share it with anyone (not even support)
  • NEVER store it in password managers
  • NEVER type it into any website or app (except your Trezor)

⚠️ Critical Warning

Trezor will NEVER ask for your recovery seed. If anyone asks for it, they are trying to steal your crypto.

Legitimate support will never request your seed phrase, PIN, or password. Always verify you're on the official Trezor website.
